Dogs feel pain every bit as much as people do, but most dogs have evolved to hide signs of pain because it could make them vulnerable to attack by rival dogs. Some dogs will plainly communicate that they are in pain, others can be very stoic and make that determination difficult. Many times dogs will hide their pain, if possible, as a natural survival mechanism. Even so, there are many ways of determining if your dog is in pain. The sooner you can make this determination, the sooner you can seek help. This can help to keep minor problems from turning into major ones.
